Sony announced the launch date and the price for its next-gen console during the PlayStation 5 showcase earlier this week. In case you missed out on the details, the PlayStation 5 Standard Edition is priced at $499, while the Digital Edition will cost $399.
The showcase event also gave fans a glimpse at the PS5 exclusive titles, including Final Fantasy XVI and Spider-Man ‘Miles Morales’. The event revealed all but the pre-order details. Later, the official PlayStation Twitter account posted an update, confirming the commencement of pre-orders the very next day. Yet again, however, no specific date or time was mentioned.
PS5 pre-orders will be available starting as early as tomorrow at select retailers.

The pre-orders went live via online retail the morning after the showcase event. As this was a much-awaited console launch, the magnitude of response was beyond comparison. Consequently, websites crashed under the load, and soon enough, the next-gen console went out of stock.
This started a frenzy on Twitter, with fans feeling discontent over the poorly managed pre-orders. Most of them could not place their orders despite being timely. After that, the pre-orders began once again; however, those were invitational only.
Now, Sony has offered an apology and assured fans to release more consoles for pre-orders.

While the PS5 showcase event was massively successful, the same can’t be said about Sony’s communication or management. Sony has released it now, and the continuation of pre-orders over the next few days should come as good news for PS5 loyalists.
PlayStation 5 launches in the US, Canada, Mexico, South Korea, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand on November 12. And a week later for the rest of the world on November 19.
