Rafael Nadal Suffers Major Setback After Comeback, Australian Open 2022 Participation in Question

Just as the world was beginning to return to some normalcy, the effects of the pandemic still continue to damp on people’s lives. Speaking of which, tennis star Rafael Nadal has issued some disappointing news. 

After his visit to Abu Dhabi, tennis ace Rafael Nadal has revealed that he has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus after his stint in the UAE. Due to that, he will be out of action for a brief period and it will be interesting to see how things unfold.

The 35-year-old player stated, “Hi all. I wanted to announce that on my return home after playing in the Abu Dhabi tournament, I have tested positive for COVID in the PCR test that was performed on me when I arrived in Spain. Both in Kuwait and Abu Dhabi, we passed controls every two days and all were negative, the last being on Friday and having the results on Saturday. I am having some unpleasant moments but I hope that I will improve little by little.”

Sad news for Rafael Nadal and fans 

Rafa is on his way back home to Mallorca as he was experiencing some uneasiness and feeling uneasy. He did mention he would have to go through his schedule once again and check if there are changes needed. He did request people who came in contact with him to get tested.

The 20-time champion added, “I am now homebound and have reported the result to those who have been in contact with me. As a consequence of the situation, I have to have total flexibility with my calendar and I will analyze my options depending on my evolution. I will keep you informed of any decisions about my future tournaments! Thank you all in advance for your support and understanding.”

Coming to tennis, Nadal just returned back on the Tour after a considerable period. It’s sad for him to miss the action once again. Nonetheless, health comes first, and we wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see him compete soon again.
