Red Bull have officially run out of patience with Pierre Gasly, and have initiated a swap. However, in an unprecedented move, Thai driver Alex Albon will be promoted alongside Max Verstappen. In the meantime, Pierre Gasly will return to the Red Bull sister team, Scuderia Toro Rosso to partner Daniil Kvyat.
According to a statement from the team, “Red Bull are in the unique position of having four talented Formula One drivers under contract who can be rotated between the Team and Toro Rosso. The Team will use the next nine races to evaluate Alex’s performance in order to make an informed decision as to who will drive alongside Max in 2020.”
“Everyone at the Team looks forward to welcoming Alex and supporting him during the next phase of his F1 career.”

Honestly I think @redbullracing should’ve promoted @kvyatofficial back to replace @PierreGASLY instead of @alex_albon. I mean Alex’s great, but Kvyat scores a podium this year and Alex’s still new in the sport.

This is astonishing. I was worried when @alex_albon turned down a three-year factory Formula E drive for a risky Toro Rosso #F1 seat.
Fair play to him, right now it's paying off and it honestly couldn't be happening to a nicer guy. Can't wait to see what he can do at Spa! https://t.co/Tcjm5JjDIh
