34-year-old Billy Horschel is now only the second American golfer after the legendary Arnold Palmer to win the BMW PGA Championship. He won the event by a stroke with a score of -19. Billy flushed an unbelievable wedge shot on the final hole from 91 yards to finish the event with a birdie.
Moreover, at one stage, it looked like the event was heading towards a four-way play-off. But thanks to Billy’s incredible up-and-down from 91 yards to take the lead, he avoided the play-off. Meanwhile, the 54-hole leader Francesco Laporta couldn’t get going and finished his event with a score of -16.

But unfortunately, Steve did not include Billy Horschel on that list. And in the post-round interview after winning the 2021 BMW PGA Championship, Horschel said, “I was a little gutted I didn’t get a call this week. And I didn’t think the call was going to say I made the team, but I was a little gutted that I didn’t get a call to say, you didn’t make the team … I thought I would at least get that.”

Meanwhile, there is still an outside chance for Billy Horschel to make it to the Ryder Cup. Brooks Koepka, who withdrew from the Tour Championship due to a wrist injury, could miss out on the Ryder Cup if he doesn’t recover in time. And if Koepka sits out, his spot could go to Billy Horschel, given his incredible performance this week at the Wentworth Golf Club.
