The 43rd Ryder Cup is currently underway at the Whistling Straits, with Team USA leading the event with a score of 9-3. However, there has been a concern in the ranks of Team USA. Meanwhile, this is coming from the swing coaches who are with the American team.
The swing instructors and putting coaches that are working with the American team members at the Ryder Cup must pay for their own expenses. However, coaches working with the European team have their expenses covered. Moreover, Europe has also permitted coaches to access the team rooms at both the golf course and the team hotel.

U.S. team coaches claim unfair Ryder Cup treatment
The Team USA coaches have demanded better treatment by the PGA of America. “The American coaches pay our own airfare, our own hotel, and our food. There’s a hotel we had to stay in to be in whatever bubble they tried to create, and it’s about $350 a night after taxes,” said one teacher who works with a prominent member of the U.S. team.
The costs for instructors for Ryder Cup week are not insignificant. A few coaches told Golfweek their outlay would be between $4000 and $5000. But he added that there’s a hidden cost of income from not working with other clients at home. Moreover, this puts instructors in the position of needing to have an awkward conversation with their players.

Furthermore, another area of concern is access in Wisconsin. While European coaches have access to both team rooms, American coaches have no access to these areas. “I literally just tried to meet my player outback of the team room and couldn’t even get close to the building to meet him,” said one coach
Moreover, the access issue extended to the golf course too. But since several coaches complained, the PGA of America gave them permission to be inside the ropes. “We were not going to be allowed inside the ropes Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, which would again have broken the bubble by putting us in the crowd,” a coach said. “They rectified that one.”
