On Thursday at the Red Bull Ring circuit in Austria, rumours began to fly after a particularly odd scene. Eagle-eyed cameras spotted Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel jogging off towards the Red Bull motorhome during lunch time. Naturally, this sparked off rumours that the 4-time F1 World Champion could be thinking of leaving Ferrari.

Some rumours reported that he may retire from the sport altogether, but he was quick to quash it. Others say that Sebastian Vettel is not really comfortable at Scuderia Ferrari. The German driver is not feeling at home at all in Maranello, courtesy the constant threats regarding his future raised by the media. There is also the fact that he has a younger and hungrier teammate in Charles LeClerc.

Admittedly, Sebastian Vettel was quite comfortable around veteran driver Kimi Raikkonen. The Finn got along well with him and posed very little threat to Vettel. Raikkonen knew his place as a Ferrari number two and quite possibly accepted it. However, Charles LeClerc is a different story, there are chances that Ferrari may be potentially be facing a situation that befell McLaren in 2007 with Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton.

There is also the fact that Red Bull was Vettel’s home for many years, right from 2007 with Toro Rosso. Sebastian Vettel feels comfortable and at peace in that environment, surrounded by familiar faces. However, Vettel may also face another challenge, in the form of Max Verstappen. Not many know, how the two drivers will play with each other if they ever were teammates.

On the other end of the scale, if Sebastian Vettel is not happy in Ferrari, could he be seeking sanctuary in Red Bull? Admittedly, the likes of Christian Horner, still holds a soft spot for Vettel, but is a move really possible or will Vettel stick with the scarlet overalls?
