Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel has said that he is not thinking about life after Formula One just yet. His Ferrari contract is set to expire in 2020, and in the following year, a brand new set of rules is set to be in effect.

Historically speaking, whenever there was an overhaul of the rules, a new team rises and dominates the field. From 2010 to 2013, it was Red Bull, who took four back-to-back championships, drivers and constructors.

Then, when the V6 turbo hybrid era arrived, Mercedes took over the reins and began their own domination. From 2014 till 2018, and possibly 2019 as well, Mercedes have been ruling the roost. Sebastian Vettel has been trying to challenge Lewis Hamilton on a number of occasions but always fell short.

His repeated failures prompted rumours that he could retire soon from Formula One. Also, the up and coming all-electric series, Formula E is becoming a popular destination for ex Formula One drivers. In fact, all four Formula E champions are former F1 drivers. However, Sebastian Vettel has insisted that that is not the case.

Speaking to Auto Bild, he said, “I have a contract with Ferrari until the end of 2020. In any case, I’m still driving for a long time. I am currently excluding Formula E or touring cars.”

Finally, he also used his biting wit to answer questions about how long he will be racing. He said, “I will always drive something, as long as no one takes the driver’s license.”

Interestingly, Sebastian Vettel has not completely ruled out Formula E in the future. So, there may be a chance that he plies his trade there.

The current Formula E grid consists of former F1 drivers like Stoffel Vandoorne, Felipe Nasr, Lucas di Grassi, Felipe Massa, Sebastien Buemi, Jean-Eric Vergne, Jerome D’Ambrosio and Pascal Wehrlein. Nelson Piquet Jr was also part of the grid, but he was let go by the Jaguar Racing team.
