Serena Williams Takes a Day Off After Crashing Out of Italian Open 2021, Spends Quality Time With Daughter Olympia

Tennis superstar Serena Williams was playing at the Italian Open in Rome but suffered a loss in the opening round match. She lost to Argentina’s Nadia Podoroska in straight sets. It was the 1000th match of her career and unfortunately, it ended in disappointment.
However, she decided to make the most of her time in the Italian capital as she has her family accompanying her. Serena was recently seen enjoying an ice cream along with her daughter Olympia. Most European cities are known for their desserts and Rome is amongst these as well.

During their outing, Serena was seen wearing a Nike tracksuit with a Gucci bag hanging on her waist. On the other hand, Olympia sported a pink tracksuit that had polka dots. This was paired with a set of sleek sneakers from Moschino.
In 2021, Williams began her season in Australia. She played the exhibition event in Adelaide called ‘A Day at the Drive’. Following that, she traveled to Melbourne to compete in the Yarra Valley Classic. Unfortunately, she had to pull out before her semifinal match due to a shoulder niggle.

Later, she featured at the Australian Open in the quest to lift her much-awaited 24th Grand Slam title. She played brilliantly in the early rounds but suffered defeat in the semifinal to eventual champion Naomi Osaka.
She was gutted by the outcome and chose to remain away from Tour. Her participation in Rome this week was her first competitive tournament since her stint in Melbourne.
Her coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, revealed that Serena would be playing at the Emilia-Romagna Open in Parma, Italy next week. This will give her much needed match practice as the French Open is around the corner.

Williams has won the French Open thrice in her career and will look to go for the title this year. Therefore, all attention will be on the American player and her performances in the upcoming days.
