“Serena Williams Will Win One More Slam” – Patrick Mouratoglou

Former World No.1 Serena Williams is chasing Margaret Court’s record of 24 singles Grand Slam titles for the past three years as she is inexplicably slumping shortly before the finish at the Grand Slam events. However, Williams’ coach Patrick Mouratoglou is confident that his pupil will at least win one more Major before retiring.
The American is stuck on 23 since claiming her last slam while three months pregnant at the 2017 Australian Open. She returned to the tour in 2018, ten months after giving birth to her daughter Olympia. Since then Serena has not won a single title on the tour.

She has reached the finals of four grand slam events but struggled to win on that final day at the Major events. Those straight-set defeats in the past four championship matches – two each at the Wimbledon and the US Open have cast some doubts on Williams’ ability to win the deciders at the Grand Slams.
However, Mouratoglou believes that Williams can still reach Court’s record.

“I would be willing to bet my money! Serena will win at least one more Slam before the end of her career. Now she is in Florida, she trains but she cannot play tennis, these are the rules. She won’t lose her tennis, but motivation is something else,” Mouratoglou said in an interview quoted by TennisWorld USA.

Now, the sport’s coronavirus enforced hiatus is certainly eating away Serena Williams’ remaining time, who is at the water half of her career. She would be hoping that the tour resumes soon and she is able to continue her chase for the 24th Grand Slam title.
