Twenty-time Grand Slam winner Roger Federer is one of the most liked players on Tour. The Swiss maestro is adored by fans from all over the world. The manner in which he commands himself on the tennis court and outside it is what makes him an extraordinary individual. 

Roger has fans not just amongst the general public but is also quite popular amongst the players on Tour as well. In the past, players have mentioned the Swiss star as the player they’ve idolized growing up. Recently, another tennis superstar made stated him as her favorite player on Tour.

Roger Federer Is the Romanian Stars Favorite Player

The Romanian, Simona Halep, engaged in a quick rapid-fire round. During that, she was asked about her favorite player on Tour. She instantly took the eight-time Wimbledon champion’s name. In the past, the two-time Grand Slam winner had stated, ‘it would be a tragedy’ when the Swiss tennis star retires from the game. 

Roger has not played competitive tennis since his semi-final loss at the Australian Open last season. He underwent surgery on his knee, which he hasn’t recovered from fully yet and so will not be seen at this year’s Australian Open. 

Simona was part of the exhibition event ‘A Day at the Drive’ in Adelaide yesterday. During the event, she played against World No. 1, Ashleigh Barty. The Romanian got the edge over the Australian.

She put up a post on Instagram after the match and stated, “Sharing the court with Ashleigh Barty is always a treat but tonight in Adelaide, with the fans cheering in the stands, was something special. Thanks, Tennis Australia for putting on such a great event and to Adelaide for coming out to watch.”

The World No. 2 will compete at the WTA Gippsland Trophy event, in which she will be the top seed. Japanese superstar Naomi Osaka and Ukrainian player Elina Svitolina will part of the tournament too. This event will take place from the 31st of January and will end on the 6th of February. 

After that, players will compete against each other for the first Grand Slam of the new season. The Australian Open will be played on the courts at Melbourne Park from the 8th of February and will end on the 21st of that month.
