“Simply Further”: Alexander Zverev Puts Novak Djokovic Ahead of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal

For close to two decades, tennis has been dominated by the likes of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic. However, over the past decade, the Serbian ace has proven himself the superior most in the triumvirate. 

Recently, German tennis player Alexander Zverev made some interesting comments with regard to the big three. He felt that Djokovic has been playing better consistently allowing him to break records set by Federer and Nadal.

The statistics speak for Novak Djokovic 

The 24-year-old player spoke on this subject and stated, “Federer and Nadal have always been the crowd’s favorites and also the media’s favorites, which Novak never was. That’s just the way it is. But at some point, you can’t ignore all the records anymore. He has won as many Grand Slams as Federer and Nadal. He has more Master’s titles.

Over the years, Djokovic has been delivering consistently. By doing so, he has now won more Masters 1000 titles than Roger and Rafa. After winning three Grand Slam titles this season, he is now at par with the two legends who have also procured 20 wins each. The German player highlights that aspect.

The ATP Finals 2021 champion added, “He has more weeks as number 1 in the world. He just has more of everything – he wins in every single category. You can’t ignore these numbers and records. They play together in the same era, so for me, it’s just clear that you say: purely from a sporting point of view and in terms of successes, Novak is simply further ahead.”
