Ted Kravitz’s F1 future has been the subject of social media debate for several days. There were reports last week that Kravitz will be leaving Sky’s set-up this season. However, in a recent article on their website, Kravitz was mentioned as part of their 2019 team.

The rumours began at the end of 2017, Scott Young was appointed as the Head of Sky’s Formula 1 content. The year 2018 was seen as a year of transition as Young restructured the Sky F1 hierarchy.

Before Young’s tenure, the company faced a difficult task. “Do they upset the apple cart by creating a fresh new line-up, mixed with the old and the new, or will they stick by their current talent?”, as quoted by Motorsport Broadcasting.

Former F1 drivers Karun Chandhok and Jenson Button joined the team ahead of 2019. Meanwhile the broadcaster shot down any other rumours traversing the Grand Prix paddock.

Sources say that Young initially did not want to renew Kravitz’s contract for the 2019 season. However, it was later confirmed that the decision to axe Kravitz was overturned from within.

Prior to the confirmation, when Kravitz’s future was still under a cloud, fans even launched a petition for him to stay. As it turns out, the u-turn was not a response to the storm and petitions. In other news, other decisions include Anthony Davidson staying on as part of their line-up.

So now, the Sky F1 commentary and broadcasting team will be fully prepared to tackle the upcoming F1 season. Fans will also be delighted to hear that Kravitz’s ‘Ted’s Notebook’, is not going anywhere soon.

The 2019 season is set to kick off in two weeks’ time and all 10 teams are eager to go racing. With one pre-season test done and dusted and the second one to start soon, the hierarchy may soon shake itself out. Ferrari have the upper hand in the first test, but their rivals will want to claw back the advantage.
