Imagine the potential signing of Gareth Bale to Wrexham. It could have broken the internet. One cannot complain about the efforts undertaken by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, who tried to bring the player to the Welsh town. After all, he won the Champions League with Real Madrid five times and could have provided valuable experience. Yet, Bale has retired from soccer and now focuses on his golf and family. But in a previous revelation, the soccer player’s agent, Jonathan Barnett, once explained the intriguing reasons for Bale’s decision and how the Hollywood owners failed to convince the player.

Bale has developed an interest in golf and is demonstrating increased efficiency in the game. As a result, Barnett elucidated crucial factors that led to the rejection of Rob and Ryan’s advances from Wrexham.

According to ESPN, Barnett had stated“Well, they haven’t spoken to me. They may have spoken to Gareth, but no, Gareth doesn’t want to play football anymore.” The reasons are pretty straightforward. The agent explained how Bale believed it was the “right time” to retire from his beloved sport after achieving everything he could. Bale scored a sensational overhead kick in the 2018 UEFA Champions League final that will be etched in the minds of the Madrid faithful.

Likewise, he wanted to appear for Wales in the World Cup, which he did, and electrified fans with his performances at the 2016 Euros. The national team reached the semi-finals and, en route, defeated the high-ranked Belgium in the quarter-finals. But his body couldn’t take up the sport anymore. Barnett continued, “I think he knew that his body just wasn’t up to par anymore. He’s had a tough time with his body the last few years”.

Home is where the heart is!

Like all players, after years of toiling to achieve greatness, they kick back and relax, doing things they love after missing out on them for years. Most players spend time with their families, and Bale does the same. Barnett mentioned, “He had a great career. He had fun, but he’s having a great life now. He’s with his family, which is the most important thing. important. He’s been spending a lot of time with his kids, and that’s what he wants to do. Yeah, he’ll do other things, obviously later, but for the moment, let him just have fun.”

The star player retires in peace as he looks forward to the next chapter of his life. But credit to Wrexham AFC’s Ryan and Rob for trying to un-retire the player, just like they did with cult hero Ben Foster, and make him play for their beloved club. Would Bale make a difference if he signed for Wrexham?
