As per the Saudi League’s Disciplinary Committee’s early action, Cristiano Ronaldo would miss Al Nassr’s league tie against Al Khaleej on Friday, completing a two-game ban. Ronaldo received this ban for elbowing Al Hilal’s Ali Al-Bulayhi in the Saudi Super Cup and also disrespecting the match official. However, prior reports have suggested that Al Nassr is moving to get CR7’s ban reduced to one game. This means the 39-year-old could feature in the Al Khaleej tie on Friday. As per Saudi Arabian journalist Aymenn Al-Tamimi, Cristiano Ronaldo will play in the much-anticipated Al Nassr-Al Khaleej game. Al-Tamimi took to X and wrote, “Legend Cristiano Ronaldo’s participation was confirmed on Saturday. Whoever is still waiting for any decision in his mind, let him continue to wait and dream.” He added Ronaldo came clean of the potential ban that awaited him. “The legend’s statement to the committee came Regular, legal and evidence-based. The situation was witnessed by everyone and does not amount to any punishment and does not require any interpretation or report at all,” Al Tamimi added.

Therefore, it is quite likely that Cristiano Ronaldo will start, and captain Al Nassr against Al Khaleej. Furthermore, the 5x Ballon d’Or winner has repeatedly been showcasing pictures from his training sessions with the Knights of Najd. His latest Instagram post features him giving a thumbs-up while training in the Al Nassr camp. This could perhaps mean the man himself has confirmed his participation in Friday’s game. After Friday’s match, the two teams meet again on April 30, and the Al Khaleej president is eager to welcome Ronaldo and Co.

After the forthcoming game, the Riyadh-based club and the Saihat-based club square off again on April 30 in the King Cup of Champions semi-final. After bottling the Saudi League, the Super Cup, and the AFC Champions League, the King Cup remains the only major title Cristiano Ronaldo’s side could chase this season. Therefore, anything other than a win would send the Knights of Najd further down a bottomless pit. Meanwhile, Al Khaleej is also eyeing a feature in the King Cup final.

“Al-Khaleej will strive to give its best because it is one match in which the dream of reaching the final of the most precious cup will be achieved,” Al Khaleej’s president recently said. The winner of the King Cup semi-final will meet either Al Hilal or Al Ittihad in the final. If Al Nassr progresses and meets Al Hilal in the final, Ronaldo will have the Herculean task of bucking a historical losing trend.
