The donation has served to generate much-needed funds for the cause. This move was not only generous, but it was also timely. For a charity event to be successful, the financial support is critical. And Reynolds and McElhenney’s contribution toward the charity match will surely bear a difference.
However, they have been doing philanthropic gestures since they took over the club’s ownership. Just last year, the Wrexham owners donated to a charity named Sands, the Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Society after their star midfielder Jordan Davies’ baby, Andrew, was born not alive. And in January, Ryan Reynolds donated $1900 to Wrexham’s U-12 futsal team FC United of Wrexham. All these have seen a significant rejuvenation in the team spirit.
