Just minutes ago, Lionel Messi won his third game in a row with Inter Miami. From the looks of it, the Argentine soccer legend just cannot stop scoring goals and his MLS debut hasn’t even happened yet! It does seem like he is finally enjoying himself after an unexpected, sad exit from PSG. For consecutive games, the World Cup winner pulled off some fancy superhero celebrations after scoring a goal.

Despite another two-goal brace by Messi, many of the fans were disappointed with the referees. Throughout the game, social media was full of criticism as the fans sensed a certain bias towards the Miami-based club.

The 7x Ballon d’Or winner has already scored five goals in three games. Since his jaw-dropping free kick against Cruz Azul, the World Cup winner’s name is on the tip of everyone’s tongue. All of a sudden, he’s made Inter Miami look like a whole new and stronger team. The soccer veteran is quite the ideal team player, too. Despite his reputation, he doesn’t mind hanging out and celebrating with his teammates.

In two consecutive games, his celebrations, after scoring a goal, have garnered quite a bit of attention. While he followed a Thor and Darth Vader celebration theme in the last game, he adopted the iconic black panther pose in the Orlando City game. From the look of it, these celebrations were directed toward his wife and kids sitting in the stands.

His team won the game against Orlando City with a 3-1 scoreline. Of the three goals scored, two goals belonged to Lionel Messi. While Messi scored Miami’s first and last goal, the fans were quite upset with the team’s second goal. Striker Josef Martinez found the back of the net from the spot, but the fans weren’t best pleased. Twitteratti felt a certain ‘bias’ from the referees during the game towards the team wearing pink.

‘Blatantly biased’ was the common verdict from the fanbase. Some of the fans believed that Orlando City was never going to win this game. An angry fan pleaded with the match officials to controversially ‘stop promoting Messi’. From the looks of it, a larger chunk of the fanbase was upset while watching the game that ended up overpowering the World Cup winner’s stunning display on the pitch.

Keeping aside the refereeing decisions, the game turned out to be a goal-fest. Messi’s former Barcelona teammate Jordi Alba also made his debut in this game. The trio of Messi, Alba, and Busquets will undoubtedly strive to change the look and feel of soccer in America. With the arrival of Lionel Messi, the US will surely have a lot more diehard soccer fans gearing up to watch the FIFA World Cup in 2026.
