You can imagine Real Madrid becoming invincible once they obtain Kylian Mbappe. The Paris Saint-Germain star has displayed virtuosity to beat any defender or goalkeeper with his pace and agility. And this, when added to a very tactically powerful Los Blancos team with players like Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Junior, and others, can turn out to be deadly. However, despite scoring 28 goals in just 26 games this season, Victor Osimhen is considered a ‘dream’ option over Mbappe for the 14-time European Champions by a pundit. Considering the roles they play, Osimhen might have an edge.

Carlo Ancelotti’s team seems to be lacking almost nothing this season. But after the departure of Karim Benzema, their options in the center have been slightly depleted. Hence, Real Madrid projects for a player to fill that void, which could be Mbappe, but a senior expert thinks otherwise.

The long wait for Kylian Mbappe might soon be over, with the player expected to join Real Madrid next summer. Regardless, according to ESPN pundit Luis Miguel Echegaray, Real Madrid should keep aside Kylian Mbappe and consider Osimhen better, as he is positionally versatile. Speaking on ESPN FC, the expert reasoned his claim, saying, “Because Victor Osimhen for Real Madrid with Vinicius Jr. on one side, Rodrigo on the other one, Valverde behind him would be an absolute dream, and Jude Bellingham, of course, it would be an absolute no-brainer.”

Kylian Mbappe is usually comfortable playing on the left wing, as he draws players out of positions with his pace and dribbling. However, Luis Enrique tried playing him in the center occasionally, which the pundits criticized for doing so. But since Vinicius Junior occupies a prominent space on the left wing, Real Madrid could face a challenge accommodating Mbappe there. Having a tussle between two of the best three players in the world would hurt egos!

On the other side, the Napoli forward is a classic number nine player who can fill the space for Karim Benzema, according to Echegaray, who further said, “You put Victor Osimhen there, and he’s now not just one of the best strikers in Europe, but he’s somebody that I believe can work so well with Vinicius Jr. Rodrygo.”

Presently, Madrid uses the Bellingham as a makeshift 9, resulting in great link-ups with Vinicius and Rodrygo. But Victor Osimhen’s coming-of-age performances can enhance the forward spot, says the expert. Nevertheless, Mbappe has a bigger chance of making it to the squad, considering the link has been around for a couple of years. Who do you think the Spanish club should sign?

One take at a time

Growing up in a sporting background, I found a passion for soccer through the remarkable 2002 World Cup-winning Brazilian football team. Watching the Premier League where Thierry Henry-starring ‘Invincible’ Gunners and Sir Alex Ferguson’s glorious Manchester United had ruled, I had my heart set on Arsenal. However, Ronaldo Nazario, Rivaldo, and Ronaldinho are my favorite players and Lionel Messi is the GOAT.
