Things have continued to escalate between Jadon Sancho and Erik ten Hag. The Red Devils winger had a highly publicized fallout with his manager earlier this season after ten Hag publicly commented that Sancho was not training properly. This led to Sancho releasing a statement saying that the Manchester United boss’s accusations were “completely untrue” and that he was training“very well”. But Sancho is yet to apologize to the Dutch manager like Cristiano Ronaldo publicly did in 2022 after his issues with the United gaffer.

Ten Hag has been considerably demanding of his players and has been a strict disciplinarian since his appointment as United manager. Last season, while Ronaldo was still at Old Trafford, the Portuguese icon was axed from the United squad by ten Hag after he left the pitch in anger after being substituted by former Ajax boss. Ronaldo soon after commented that ten Hag didn’t “respect” him, saying,  “I don’t have respect for him [ten Hag] because he doesn’t show respect for me. If you don’t have respect for me, I’m never gonna have respect for you. I felt betrayed.” But that was after Ronaldo tried to make peace with the Dutch boss by apologizing to him.

Unlike Jadon Sancho, shortly after the rift between Ronaldo and ten Hag, the Portuguese star released a statement apologizing to ten Hag on Instagram saying, “I’ve always tried to set the example myself for the youngsters that grew in all the teams that I’ve represented. Unfortunately, that’s not always possible and sometimes the heat of the moment gets the best of us. Right now, I just feel that I have to keep working hard in Carrington, support my teammates and be ready for everything in any given game.”

This led to ten Hag reinstating Ronaldo into the squad and bringing him back to the first team. But Sancho, on the other hand, hasn’t made any such statement and has yet to apologize to Ten Hag following their row. Furthermore, United fans could argue that if someone as decorated as Ronaldo could apologize to him, then Sancho must surely do the same.

Of course, Ronaldo would leave Old Trafford for Al Nassr the following transfer window in January 2023 after his explosive interview with Piers Morgan. However, Sancho is staying firm on his stance and is not ready to apologize to his manager. Now, he has also been relegated from the first-team squad.

Just before Manchester United’s 1-0 win over Burnley, ten Hag made a comment on Sancho saying that he would not be in the squad. The Red Devils gaffer said,“Depends on him. For the rest, we are preparing for Burnley. That has all our focus and he will not be in the squad”.

This came shortly after United released a statement that Sancho is training individually and is not with the first team. There were also rumors of unrest in the United dressing room with reports that accused ten Hag of favoritism, and ‘double standards’.

However, the issues between Sancho and his coach are yet to be resolved. Furthermore, whether Sancho remains at Manchester United or is offloaded in the next transfer window just like Ronaldo remains to be seen.
