Mexican boxer Canelo Alvarez jumped onto the scene and condemned Messi on social media. Former Argentina star Sergio Aguero has now come to the defense of Argentine talisman Lionel Messi.

Sergio Aguero always has Lionel Messi’s back

The boxing star’s comments didn’t go down well for Sergio Aguero, who, as usual, came to the defense of a beloved friend. He was quick to respond to Alvarez, saying he misinterpreted the incidents in the video.

According to Aguero, Messi kicked the Mexican jersey by accident while removing the shoes. He explained generally how things go in the dressing room after the match. The jerseys are on the floor usually, after the game because of the sweat he claimed in his tweet. Canelo, therefore, overreacted according to him.

Messi and records go hand-in-hand and he is two goals behind Batistuta to level him on the most goals by an Argentine in the FIFA World Cup.

Argentina now knows that a win against Poland in their final group game will secure their place in the knockouts. They will go all out for an outright win the match to seal their fate on their own. On the other hand, Mexico too, needs a win to qualify.
