The Premier League is perhaps one of the best soccer leagues in the world. The league amasses some of the best players and teams around the globe. Moreover, the popularity of this league is at a different level, with over 1.4 billion viewers worldwide.

It holds significant spectatorship among the likes of other leagues, including La Liga, the Bundesliga, and Serie A. One of the best things about this league is that no team is a favorite to win the championship.

In other words, there is no dominance of a particular soccer club in the league, and any team can become the winner. Perhaps that is why the Premier League is considered one of the most competitive leagues in the world.

Premier League refereeing scandal

Usually, when a soccer match is played, either side is likely to win the contest. Furthermore, to conduct any match in fair practice, it is made sure that the officials are not biased against any other team. One such incident has come to light that may shock many soccer fans. The 2016 Premier League campaign was an emphatic one to witness. Fans couldn’t believe Leicester City had clinched the prestigious title.

This is quite an allegation from Simpson and may have left the majority of soccer fans in shock. But this isn’t the first time that has happened in a soccer match, especially with Clattenburg in it.

The referee made a huge mistake between Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid during the Champions League final by awarding a penalty to Atleti. Moreover, he also disclosed that he wanted England to get knocked out of Euro, in order to get the chance of refereeing the final.

It is shocking to hear that referees tend to make such biased decisions in deliberation. After all, referees are the only ones who can conduct a soccer match fairly. We hope that it doesn’t happen again, and the apex authorities of soccer must comply with the necessary precautions.
