Former AC Milan star Gianluigi Donnarumma had a rough outing for PSG last night. The Italian goalkeeper returned to San Siro for a game against his former side, with the fans giving him a frosty reception. Donnarumma’s fellow PSG teammate, Kylian Mbappe, quickly jumped to his friend’s aid, lamenting the reception from the fans.

Unknown to many, Mbappe, in his old interviews, has spoken about his fondness for AC Milan. The French superstar followed the 7x European Champions since childhood. However, PSG had a rough night against AC Milan away from home in the Champions League as the side suffered a 2-1 defeat. The focus area, though, was on the former AC Milan goalkeeper’s reception!

Gianluigi Donnarumma had one of his most demanding outings for PSG in the Champions League in his last game. The star was up against his former side, AC Milan, and the fans at San Siro did not shy away from jeering their former player. Milan fans were unhappy about the keeper’s refusal to extend his contract with the side in 2021 and left the side on a free transfer.

They showered him with fake money bills and gave him a hostile reception. Witnessing the unfolded events disappointed Mbappe with how the fans treated the Italian as he spoke about the game during his post-match comments. The player then added that every PSG player tried their best to protect the keeper as much as they could.

Mbappe stated, “There was a lot of noise. They gave ‘Gigio a rather difficult reception. I think it was a bit too much. It’s football today, the supporters do what they want. We can’t tell them what to do. We tried to protect Gigio as much as possible.”

PSG stepped into the game looking for a win yet left disappointed with their overall performance. The side was bested by AC Milan, who became a class apart at the end of the final whistle.
