It is a fairy-tale story. A Hollywood A-lister takes over a small, struggling soccer club in Wales and, against all the odds, they turn things around and start to enjoy success on the pitch. This is exactly what has happened with Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s Wrexham AFC.

The Deadpool star and his fellow ‘It’s always sunny in Philadelphia’ star bought the National League club back in 2021 and, since then, they have taken the club to new heights. Wrexham was struggling in the fifth tier of English soccer when Reynolds and McElhenney took over but they are now back on track and eyeing promotion to the fourth tier.

On top of that, Wrexham’s FA Cup run has been nothing short of miraculous.

Ryan Reynolds’ Wrexham in the top 32 of FA Cup

732 of all eligible English soccer teams take part in the FA Cup, and Wrexham has pulled off a miracle by making its place in the top 32. This feat came while being the lowest-ranked team and the only non-league team(a team that plays below the fourth tier) remaining in the competition.

This came after their hard-fought victory against Coventry in a 4-3 victory in the third round of the FA Cup. Wrexham’s run in the FA Cup has been a real boost for the club and it is all thanks to the involvement of Reynolds and McElhenney. The two Hollywood stars have brought a new level of attention to the club and they are now looking to make more history.
