Following Cristiano Ronaldo‘s $500 million move to Al Nassr, the Saudi club is cashing in on his global popularity. The Portuguese may have left Saudi Arabia to play for Portugal for the ongoing international break, but that hasn’t stopped Ronaldo from impacting the fortunes of his current club.

Jersey sales are an integral a lucrative income stream for most clubs around the world. But when you have a global superstar in your ranks, the income from jersey sales tends to skyrocket. This has been the case with Al Nassr recently, as a report in the Saudi Arabian media reveals.

Ronaldo has made an impressive start to life in Saudi Arabia scoring 31 goals in 36 games since joining Al Nassr in January 2023. But what is perhaps even more staggering is the sheer volume of his shirt sales and how fast they’re selling out.

As a tweet from a Saudi media person reveals, Ronaldo’s shirts sold out 10,000 units in just 2 hours at the Al Nassr store recently. With each jersey costing 109 euros, the total amount received by Al Nassr in dollars is equivalent to over $1,140,000.

While Ronaldo’s move to Al Nassr is proving lucrative monetarily and from a marketing standpoint of the Saudi Pro League, the Portuguese star is preparing to commit to a longer contract and extend his stint at the Arab club.

Cristiano Ronaldo is aiming to stay at Al Nassr till 2027 with a view to playing in the 2026 World Cup

According to earlier reports, Ronaldo has informed the Al Nassr board that he is looking to extend his stay in Saudi Arabia until 2027. Ronaldo’s current deal runs until 2025 but he is looking at a further 2-year extension for a renewed $500 million deal.

As per the reports, while also proving his old Manchester United teammate Wayne Rooney wrong, Ronaldo is mooting the extension in the SPL with a view to taking part in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Of course, the Portuguese star is 38 now, so by the time the next World Cup kicks off in the USA, Canada, and Mexico he will be 41.

However, it looks as though soccer fans could see Ronaldo partake in the 2026 World Cup despite his age, as the 5-time Ballon d’Or winner eyes one last push for World Cup glory with Portugal.
