Neymar Jr., the star forward for Paris Saint-Germain, had an unfortunate run of injuries in recent months. Neymar had not played a competitive match since February 19, and he is eagerly waiting for his return to the first team. Meanwhile, the Brazilian international is confident about his fitness, but the club is still undecided about his participation in the pre-season friendlies.

The 31-year-old Brazilian star suffered a serious ankle injury in a match against Lille in Ligue 1, ruling him out for the entire 2022-2023 season. New manager Luis Enrique left Neymar out of the squad for the club’s warm-up games even though he had been training well with the team after recovery. Despite not yet making his debut for the Red and Blues this season, Joia confirmed traveling with the team for their next friendly in Korea.

Neymar had scored 118 goals in his 173 appearances for Parisians so far. The fans had been concerned about the player’s injury record, which caused him to miss multiple games despite his dominant performances in many seasons. The 5-time Ligue 1 champion had shown signs of recovery after undergoing surgery in Doha for his recent injury in February.

He had returned to training and was waiting for his chance to play in the pre-season tour. However, The Olympic medalist was on the bench for the Japan tour match against Inter Milan, despite traveling with the team. Neymar addressed his situation to L’Equipe, “I’m feeling good, But I don’t know when I’ll play again”.

Now, PSG is gearing up for their next pre-season match in Korea against the K-League side, Jeonbuk on August 3. La Joia confirmed his inclusion in the Parisians squad with a tweet.

Although reports suggest that PSG is looking to offload Neymar this summer, there had been multiple rumors about potential suitors. Despite the absence of the Brazilian star, the Red and Blues’ performance in their recent warm-up matches had not been impressive enough to demonstrate their confidence in the squad.

PSG’s performance against Inter Milan in their pre-season friendly

The Ligue 1 champions had a poor performance in their pre-season tour of Japan. They lost two consecutive matches to Cerezo Osaka and Inter Milan and drew with Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr. PSG conceded 5 goals and scored only 3 in this entire campaign. Vitinha gave PSG an early lead against the Champions League runners-up but suffered two consecutive goals from Sebastián Esposito and Stefano Sensi in the final 10 minutes of the match.

PSG created chances including Achraf Hakimi’s free-kick and Marco Asensio’s shot hitting the post, but they were unable to make a winning impact in the game. There is growing concern around PSG as their pre-season form continues to disappoint the fans.
