Yesterday, on Christmas Eve, fans got to witness one of the most intense rivalries in soccer. Turkish sides Fenerbahce and Galatasaray played their Super Lig game, which surprisingly ended in a stalemate. But the spotlight has shifted from the draw to Mauro Icardi, who emerged from the contest sporting a ‘black eye.’ Yet, for Icardi’s rival Edin Dzeko, the Argentine’s injury did not elicit sympathy, and instead took the opportunity to deliver a scathing critique of Galatasaray.

The incident occurred during the ongoing match as the striker collided face-first with the goalpost while contesting for the ball in the box. Furthermore, claims surfaced that he was struck in the face by a Fenerbahce player and that, in another instance, he may have been scraped by an opponent’s foot. After the match, while Icardi shared the pictures of his black eye, Galatasaray released a statement, claiming they were ‘ashamed’ that the incident occurred. But in response, Fenerbahce claimed that they are ‘trying to create victimization’ and rather leave it to the ‘discretion of the public.’ 

While these claims were posted by transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, they caught the eye of Icardi’s last night’s rival Edin Dzeko, who made a shocking comment under the post. The former AS Roma striker wrote, “The guy hit the goal post with his head and they put him on Insta and cry for the penalty. [four laughing emojis] Typical them… embarrassing…Be serious @fabriziorom You are better than that….#fener[yellow and blue heart emoji]”

This is indeed quite a bold comment from Dzeko, which certainly wouldn’t have impressed Icardi. However, the player got special support from her beloved wife, Wanda Nara.

Following the match, Icardi’s wife, Wanda Nara, shared pictures of Christmas celebrations on Instagram alongside their children and close ones, with the caption, “Merry Christmas to all. We wish you from Istanbul. Health, peace, and much love.” However, what caught many off guard was the fact that in one of the pictures, Wanda had playfully given herself a black eye using makeup.
