Endrick- ‘Brazilians Cheering For Lionel Messi & Argentina Vs Brazil Was Sad’

There are very few soccer rivalries as heated as Argentina vs Brazil. Both sides have been long-time rivals, with the South American elites battling for dominance over the CONMEBOL circuit. However, Albiceleste’s triumph in the 2022 World Cup has seen the team emerge as cult heroes. While fans are all over the Argentine stars, not everyone seems pleased with it. Brazilian wonderkid Endrick voiced his annoyance at the fact in an interview, with the Selecao star frustrated with home fans supporting Lionel Messi-led Argentine over their team.
Temperatures were at an all-time high the last time these two sides came against each other in November. Things got out of hand before the game, as the Brazilian police had to use force against the Argentine fans to control the chaos. It did not sit well with La Pulga and his men, who walked out of the ground in protest, forcing a 30-minute delay.

The Real Madrid-bound star played his first game against Lionel Messi’s Argentina last year in an action-packed contest. However, while the Brazilian star enjoyed the atmosphere and the pressure, he didn’t seem pleased with the home supporters. Endrick voiced his frustrations with the fans in an exclusive interview with the Brazilian media outlet Placar.
Endrick: "Quando joguei no Maracanã, vi brasileiros torcendo pela Argentina. É uma coisa um pouco triste, cara, porque é um clássico, é uma guerra, é Brasil x Argentina"

The Brazilian stated, “When I played at Maracanã, I saw Brazilians rooting for Argentina. It’s a bit sad because it’s a classic, a war, it’s Brazil-Argentina. Seeing people cheering for Argentina was sad. A Brazilian cheering against Brazil? That’s difficult. We want to bring a happier face to the fans and, God willing, in the coming years, we can be champions of the World Cup.”

Brazilian star Rodrygo reached his wits’ end during Brazil’s clash against Argentina at home in November. The player didn’t seem too delighted with the visitors taking their time to take to the field. He took matters into his own hands as he confronted Lionel Messi before the game, trying to rile up the Argentine talisman. Rodrygo allegedly poked Messi, stating, “You are acting like cowards. Don’t you want to play the game?”
According to reports, La Pulga was not too pleased with the Brazilian’s comments as he gave the player a piece of his mind. Messi confronted Rodrygo, apparently stating, “We are the world champions. How are we cowards? Keep your mouth, watch your mouth.”
