There’s a divisive opinion about the exact kind of diets sports stars and athletes should follow. It comes down to which ones are the most effective; naturally, it also trickles down to the diets some of the best-ever soccer players follow. Manchester City’s soccer icon Erling Haaland is someone whose diet is rather bizarre, as a video from 2022 reveals.
Haaland exploded onto the global soccer scene whilst he was at RB Salzburg and Borussia Dortmund. Since then, after his move to Manchester City under Pep Guardiola, the Norwegian has broken goal-scoring records in England and in Europe. According to a viral video from the archives of 2022, Haaland has been eating cow hearts! The video charts Haaland’s body transformation from being 86 kg at Dortmund to 94 kg at Manchester City. Haaland once said, “I am concerned with taking care of my body I think eating quality food that is as local as possible is the most important”.
“People say meat is bad for you but which? The meat you get at McDonald’s or the local cow eating grass right over there? I eat the heart and the liver”. Further Andrea Buceta, a sports nutritionist quotes, “It’s an old-school diet where our grandparents and parents gave us liver and heart as a child to prevent us from being anaemic, because these are foods that are high in iron and it’s one of the main deficiencies in society today”, as per AS.

For a fact, Haaland’s unusual diet is pretty close to Portuguese icon Cristiano Ronaldo’s diet. The Norwegian striker has suggested that he consumes around 6000 calories a day. That’s more than double the norm for adults, which is 2500 calories per day. Haaland also posted a tweet on X earlier this year, suggesting that drinking kale-infused milk was his “magic potion”.
