Cristiano Ronaldo’s fitness and longevity are a testament to his discipline and hard work. Ronaldo has already played in five different leagues throughout his career. But his latest destination will pose a new Champions League challenge. The Al Nassr star is still determined to continue in Riyadh and is on the verge of winning a second award on the trot.

Al Nassr has brought Ronaldo with the intention of a revolution in Arabian soccer. The club can boast of things actually taking shape. But the focus will be on Ronaldo, who has kicked off the current season with a bang.

Cristiano Ronaldo is living up to expectations this season. Already having won the August Player of the Month in the Roshan Saudi Pro League, Ronaldo is nominated again for the September edition of the award. The Portuguese has scored a massive 16 goals in the current season in just 15 appearances. The Portuguese striker has been a complete contributor for the club, and has also snuck in 5 assists.

Ronaldo’s season has been more productive with the addition of players like Sadio Mane and Marcelo Brozovic. In September, Ronaldo scored five goals that have got him onto the nomination board again.

Apart from the Saudi Pro League, Ronaldo also played in his first AFC Champions League against Persepolis in Tehran last month. Even though he did not score a goal, Ronaldo helped Al Nassr win a penalty for their victory versus the Tehran-based team in their opener.

It has been two decades since Ronaldo made his UEFA Champions League debut. Twenty years later, the star is now playing a Champions League tie in a different continent.

Ronaldo’s first Champions League match in Europe dates back to the 1st of October 2001 against Stuttgart, where he earned a penalty for Manchester United in a losing cause. Since then, the Manchester United and Real Madrid icon has not turned back.

After risking injury in Tehran for the last AFC Champions League game, Ronaldo will play the Tajik League club FC Istiklol in their second encounter. Al Nassr will host the match at King Saud University Stadium today. The hosts are coming with nine consecutive wins under their belt in all competitions. Being the club’s best player in September, Ronaldo will look to open his scoring in the Asian version of the Champions League.
