It seems like Real Madrid has finally got their man, with Kylian Mbappe reportedly agreeing to a deal with Los Blancos. However, with the Frenchman now out of their worries, the Merengues could reportedly turn their attention to Erling Haaland. Madrid president Florentino Perez has been a long-time admirer of the Norwegian striker and wants to bring him to Santiago Bernabeu to rebuild the Galacticos era. However, it doesn’t seem like the deal is happening anytime soon.

Erling Haaland is currently enjoying his time at Manchester City, with the striker in his second season with the club. The Norwegian, during his time at the Etihad, has already bagged five titles and looks poised to lift even more in the coming years. Jan Age Fjortoft seems to agree with the Norwegian legend addressing Haaland’s future in an Essentially Sports ‘Exclusive’ interview.

Fjortoft commented on Haaland’s potential move to Real Madrid during the Essentially Sports ‘Exclusive’ interview stating, “First of all, Haaland going to Real Madrid, that is the dream of Real Madrid fans. Erling Haaland is at the club now that wins the most trophies. Players on his level want to be where there are most trophies. The most guarantee where you have the most is Manchester City. So why should he go to Real Madrid now? What will happen in the future nobody knows, but now he’s got Pep Guardiola as his coach.”

The Norwegian icon added, “He is at the club that just won the treble. Uhh, I think he’s already played in Norway, Austria, Germany, and England. There is a pattern. It seems like he wants to play in different countries, which is fair when you have the chance. But at the moment, it’s just wishful thinking of Real Madrid. I think at first they should be happy that they are getting Mbappe.”

Fjortoft’s words hold a lot of value as Manchester City has emerged as one of the best clubs in Europe with their consistent performances over the years. However, with Real Madrid looming on the horizon, it will be intriguing to see if Erling Haaland stays put at the Etihad or moves to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Can Real Madrid sign Erling Haaland this summer?

Having Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe could be a dream come true for Los Blancos fans. It’s like having Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi on the same team! Pretty much unreal. Nonetheless, Real Madrid has the financial firepower needed to sanction a move for the Norwegian, but the move comes with a big catch. They can’t sign the Manchester City star this summer.

With over $200 million already out of their pocket, triggering Erling Haaland’s $215 million release clause deal this season isn’t possible by any means. It allows Manchester City to convince the player to extend the contract, ensuring the striker’s future at the Etihad.
