During their pre-season U.S. tour, the team’s performance in crowded stadiums significantly improved their global reputation. Speaking of which, the club’s owner McElhenney is a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where Wrexham concluded their final match of the tour.

Interestingly, the $50 million-worth actor’s association with Wrexham has led to an influx of new fans for the club in Philadelphia. The 45-year-old owns a pub there named Mac’s Tavern. Apparently, it has transformed into a shrine dedicated to all things related to the Welsh club. Situated in the heart of Philadelphia’s Old City, the bar is adorned with Welsh flags and club shirts, serving as a tribute to the club and its culture.

On match days, it becomes a lively gathering spot for passionate and ardent supporters, cheering for the team from across the ocean. In fact, during Wrexham’s last year’s game against Boreham Wood, the bar manager, Erica Demitraszek, received an average of 7 to 8 phone calls per day regarding the game.

Seeing Philly fans passionately support the third-oldest soccer club is a testament to the club’s growing popularity. Perhaps the pub will now host a larger crowd, as they will be cheering for them ahead of the new campaign.

However, it won’t be an easy task, as they will be facing some tough opponents in the tournament. Moreover, their biggest uphill battle is to start off the campaign without their star player, Paul Mullin. Unfortunately, the Welsh striker was forced to leave the pitch during the friendly tie against Manchester United. It remains to be seen how they manage to start the new season.
