In the world of sports, resilience often meets unforeseen challenges. One of Cristiano Ronaldo’s  Al Nassr teammates recently had to face the challenges that come with a lengthy absence with injury. David Ospina was reduced to tears after returning as he played his first match after his recovery. Despite this outpour of emotion, the Saudi club could be forced to sell him in the January transfer window.

The Knights of Najd are planning big signings in January. Hence, selling fringe players makes sense for all parties involved. This is especially so as it does not seem like Ospina is a part of plans going forward for the club.

In January, Al Nassr fans were greeted with good and bad news. The good news was the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo. But, the bad news was their star goalkeeper, David Ospina suffered an elbow injury at that time. Fortunately for the club, Nawaf Alaqidi has done well as the first-choice goalkeeper. So, this season Al Nassr decided to not register the Colombian goalkeeper in the squad as he was recovering. However, David Ospina did get the chance to play in the 3-2 friendly win against Mexico. The 35-year-old also had tears as the national anthem started.

It was indeed an emotional return for the Colombian goalkeeper. However, this does not change the fact that he is not in the plans of Al Nassr’s boss Luis Castro. The Saudi club hopes to sell him in the January transfer window. David Ospina has also received offers over a possible move. Reports suggest that 2 clubs from Mexico and 3 clubs from Brazil have made offers.

The Saudi giants have potential incomings planned in January

Al Nassr already has been linked with Manchester United midfielder Casemiro. The rumors also suggest that Cristiano Ronaldo is trying his best to convince his former Red Devils teammate to come to Saudi Arabia. However, before any potential move can happen, they will have to sell David Ospina to free up the foreign player’s quota.

There are also reports of midfielder Seko Fofana getting linked to a potential exit in the January transfer window. Hence, Luis Castro and the owners will have big decisions to make in the January transfer window.
