Shortly after hitting the Paris Fashion Week with a Cristiano Ronaldo-themed Vetemens dress, Georgina Rodriguez hinted that her partner could hang his boots within two years. Now, renowned ESPN journalist Julien Laurens says Georgina let the cat out of the bag because she wants Ronaldo to retire. Furthermore, the journalist assumes that the Spanish model wants the Al Nassr skipper to prioritize family life and its moments over soccer, now that he is in the twilight of his career.

Since Ronaldo turned 39 last month, one could say his career is climaxing. But his consistent goal-scoring run on the field proves he is good to go in his 40s. Eden Hazard expects to see CR7 on the field even in his 50s! Anyhow, Laurens thinks Georgina does not want the face of Al Nassr to play that long.

Georgina’s remarks on Cristiano Ronaldo’s retirement were the talking point in an ESPN FC episode featuring Julien Laurens and Gabriel Marcotti. “She looked like she really wanted him to retire soon to be fair,” said Julien Laurens. Thereafter, he tried to interpret why the supermodel was rushing the Portuguese captain to call it a day. “She will have him all the time 24/7. Now he goes training. He travels two games, maybe,” Laurens added. Marcotti intervened and said Ronaldo would never stop training even if he were to hang his boots.

“Yeah, but he would train at the house. He won’t go away for training,” Laurens said in response. Notably, whenever CR7 is home, he hits the gym with Georgina and often gives a glimpse of their training to the fans. Perhaps she would want the 5x-Ballon d’Or winner to be her workout partner on any given day. While Georgina’s revelation came as a shock for many fans, Ronaldo has neither spoken of retirement nor does he show any sign of aging.

While speaking on the Obi-One podcast, Eden Hazard remarked that Cristiano Ronaldo is the GOAT to bring trophies to a club. “Look at him now he’s 39, He’s gonna score goals till 50 you know,” Hazard said, referring to CR7. Speaking of bringing trophies to a club, Ronaldo had earlier said that he longs to win at least 5 trophies with Al Nassr before calling it a day.

Besides, rumors are that the Portuguese captain could feature in the 2026 FIFA World Cup to have a last shot at securing soccer’s biggest prize. Meanwhile, Ronaldo will also be eager to complete the challenge of scoring 1,000 goals to cement his top position on the list of soccer’s scoring leaders.

Hence Georgina’s statement and CR7’s on-field performances and ambitions contradict one another, and his retirement remains ambiguous for the time being.
