The United States of America has obtained the right to host the oldest international soccer tournament, the Copa America this year. It also brings a huge responsibility to the host nation to do well in front of all the eyes and the home crowd. However, one of the country’s very own stars, Giovanni Reyna, has his future in doubt with his club. A pundit publicly urged him to not ‘waste more time‘ and backed him to leave Borussia Dortmund. The attacker will need to be at the peak of his fitness and form with the 2024 Copa America approaching.

The future of the USMNT star has been in major doubt for the last few seasons. Hence, there could be a chance that all the parties will explore an exit in January.

The German giants likely had the same expectations from US Giovanni Reyna. But, it is not working out. Renowned pundit Julien Laurens has urged him to leave in the January transfer window. He further said, “There can’t be any discussions; he has to go, and he has to get out now; he can’t waste more time. I looked it up. He played 229 minutes in the Bundesliga so far. Can you imagine this? This is nothing. He’s a young player. He needs to play. He’s a talented kid too, so it’s not as if he is rubbish.

The French journalist made the point that Dortmund’s manager Edin Terzić is not going to give him the opportunity in the second half. Hence, he needs to find at least a loan move in January that can guarantee him the game time. The downfall of Giovanni Reyna at Dortmund has been unfortunate. His injuries and constant managerial changes have affected his career. When he made his debut in 2020, experts had backed him to succeed at the Bundesliga club. However, what has followed was the lack of opportunities presented to him. Reyna remains a crucial player for the USMNT despite the limited game time at the club level. However, for his club career, this could be the best opportunity for him to force a move away.

A few weeks ago, Giovanni Reyna’s father and representatives were pictured together. This led to speculations of him leaving Germany. Dortmund was quick to reject these rumors. But, the reports are not going away because of his contract, which is set to expire at the end of next season. Currently, he faces direct competition to fight for a spot among names like Marco Reus and Julian Brandt.

In the last few days, the German giants are also reportedly working on a new winger signing in January. According to reports. Jadon Sancho could return and put an end to his Manchester United dream that turned into a nightmare.
