Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules have long been an area of contentious debate in soccer. Premier League club Everton has already received a 10-point deduction for breaching FFP rules. However, they were not the only club in danger of sanctions. Manchester City are facing the risk of an even bigger punishment, and are accused of breaching 115 charges from 2008 to 2019. But, they are awaiting final judgment.

According to reports, the Sky Blues could face a 30-point deduction or an altogether relegation from the Premier League. This is likely to affect the future of a number of star players including Erling Haaland. After potential relegation, Haaland would certainly not stay at the club. This could also force the club to sell most of their top players.

The potential signing of Erling Haaland would keep Vinicius Junior happy at Real Madrid

Real Madrid are also linked with the signing of Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint Germain. However, this signing would result in Vinicius Jr having to switch his preferred position. The Brazilian currently plays in the spaces between the striker and the winger. Mbappe too prefers playing in that position with PSG. But, this problem would not exist with the potential signing of Erling Haaland, who operates in the number nine slot, as an all-out striker.

Joselu is the only striker available at the moment for the Los Blancos. They have also kept the No.9 shirt empty after the departure of Karim Benzema to Al Ittihad. This is the perfect opportunity for the Galacticos to sign their marquee striker. However, the opportunity depends on City losing the case. There are already rumors that the current Premier League champions will appeal the decision to higher authorities should the decision not go their way.
