“He Wants to Cover Up Everything” – Real Madrid Icon Exposes Xavi Over Controversial Jude Bellingham Penalty Call-Out

“These are not excuses, they are realities.” This is what Xavi had to say regarding the refereeing decisions not favoring FC Barcelona. However, it seems like Xavi is not just concerned about decisions affecting his side. But he also keeps an eye on Real Madrid and how they seemingly benefit from such decisions. In fact, the ‘Jude Bellingham’ incident against Almeria received a special mention from the Catalan coach. But a Real Madrid icon isn’t too impressed at all with Xavi’s antics.
Speaking on the show, El Chiringuito de Jugones, legendary midfielder Guti, lashed out at Xavi for his take on the refereeing decisions. He said (translated via EzDubs), “I think he wants to cover up everything he is not doing on the field with these types of comments“. As per Guti, Xavi is resorting to such comments to take the attention away from his team’s sub-par performances. He explained, “I think it’s easier for him assuming that his Barcelona is not playing well or assuming that his Barcelona is not at the level wants, is more difficult than saying ‘Hey the referees will favor Real Madrid.'” Guti also pointed out the irony regarding such comments.

He said, “When they benefit you, I have not seen any coach say today it benefitted me, today we should not have these three points.” For Xavi, the tipping point seems to have been the controversial decision to award a penalty to Real Madrid against Almeria. Los Blancos, who were 2-0 down until then, went on to win the game.
The incident didn’t impress Xavi who said, “There are things that we don’t control.” Till now, Xavi hasn’t faced any punishment for his comments against the referees. But, that was not the only such incident where the Barcelona boss candidly spoke about the referees and their calls in La Liga.

Villarreal’s comeback victory against Barcelona was inspiring to say the least. However, there was a moment of controversy. In the 87th minute, the Catalan club was awarded a penalty. However, much to the dismay of Barcelona, VAR intervened and reversed the decision. This did not impress Xavi, who said, “It’s a shame. It’s a shame.”

It was expected that this gesture would have consequences. However, the head coach has seemingly escaped any penalization. The reason was possibly that none of the officials on the pitch took notice of this gesture.
