Though Cristiano Ronaldo served a ban to miss Al Nassr’s recent winning game against Al Feiha, he has relentlessly been training with the squad. Meanwhile, the club’s head coach, Luis Castro, has been missing out on his coaching duties due to a ‘minor medical procedure.’ Al Nassr has appointed their first assistant coach, Vitor Severino, to take charge of the team in Castro’s absence. But a recent update on the Portuguese manager hints that the Knights of Najd need not necessarily depend on Severino for a long time.

Earlier, Cristiano Ronaldo’s side had announced that Luis Castro’s physician had advised him to refrain from physical activities for a few days after his surgery. Now, according to the X handle Al Nassr Zone, the club’s head coach has left the hospital after seeing his health improve. The report also added that the 62-year-old is close to returning to his coaching duties. Anyhow, it is unsure as to how long Ronaldo and his teammates will have to train without Castro’s supervision. His date of return to the camp is yet to be announced by the club or sources close to it.

Moreover, Castro’s entourage has not revealed what medical procedure he underwent in the past week. Anyhow, the latest update on the gaffer surely gives a glimmer of hope to the Riyadh-based side’s fanbase. In yet another positive update, Cristiano Ronaldo could reportedly rejoin the Al Nassr squad earlier than expected.

What next for Cristiano Ronaldo and Al Nassr?

The team in yellow had earlier appealed to the Saudi Arabia Football Federation to overturn Cristiano Ronaldo’s red card during the Super Cup game against Al Hilal. Ronaldo’s side had also questioned the league’s disciplinary committee’s decision to ban him for two games. Al Nassr’s appeal is somewhat successful, as the SAFF has reportedly reduced CR7’s two-game ban into a one-game ban. Hence, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner could return to the Riyadh club for the Saudi League tie against Al Khaleej. Only time will tell if Luis Castro will also join his compatriot for the Al Khaleej faceoff on April 26.

Thereafter, Ronaldo and Co. again face Al Khaleej in the King Cup of Champions semi-final on April 30. This will be the most important game Al Nassr will play lately. Luis Castro’s side has blown chances to win the Saudi Pro League, the AFC Champions League, and the Saudi Super Cup. Hence, a win in the King Cup of Champions is the only chance for the Knights of Najd to add silverware to their cabinet this season. With positive updates on both Castro and Ronaldo, Al Nassr can set their mentality right before they chase the crucial King Cup title.
