Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer is the talk of the town. The epic biographical thriller includes a star cast namely Robert Downey Jr, Cillian Murphy, Josh Hartnett, and many more. While everybody races to book tickets for the premiere, an interesting connection has surfaced on the internet. A few scenes of this movie have a majestic and unexpected connection with the USWNT’s Alex Morgan.

Interestingly, this connection goes back to the soccer veteran’s college years. She played for California Golden Bears at that time. The connection between the two is quite random and surprising. Let’s dive deeper.

Between 1929 – 1943, Robert Oppenheimer taught at the University of California. This was just before he moved to Los Alamos to begin working on the atomic bomb. Interestingly, the Edwards Stadium was established in 1932 and was a part of Oppenheimer’s life. As per the trailer, a few scenes of the movie have been shot at Cal’s famous Edwards stadium.

As many would know, Alex Morgan graduated from the University of California. She gained a lot of popularity during her tenure at the California Golden Bears. Edwards Stadium is a track and field and soccer venue for the University of California. Currently playing her fourth Women’s World Cup, Morgan was a superhit soccer player during her college days.

While she was building the base for her soccer career, Morgan would have surely had more than a few memorable moments at Edwards Stadium. The common roots of the Edwards stadium are precisely the link between the World Cup winner and a few scenes from Oppenheimer. The soccer veteran attended the University of California between 2007-10. She ranked third after she scored a total of 45 goals for her university team. It is important to note that she was already playing for the USYNT at that time. Despite that, she took up a leadership role at the Bears. She was the first Golden Bear to become a finalist for the Hermann Trophy.

She was one of the finalists for the Honda Sports Award too. All in all, she had already made solid inroads into the soccer universe by the time she graduated. After a few months, she was deservedly Western New York Flash’s first overall pick in the 2011 WPS draft and the rest is history.
