Hours After Being Humiliated for ‘World Championship’ Tweet, Lakers Legend Magic Johnson Takes a 3-Word U-Turn in Latest Statement

Magic Johnson was arguably one of the greatest players in basketball. He was one of the most intelligent players on the court. The former Lakers star enjoyed a stellar career during its early days and won many accolades. Soon after stepping off the court, the player became an investor as a sportsperson.

He may have left the Lakers as a player, but he soon joined them as part owner, under the apprenticeship of its owner, Dr. Jerry Buss. However, he sold his shares a few years ago. But that didn’t stop him from keeping his foot in other sports franchises.

The latter is part of the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Los Angeles Sparks. Besides this, he also joined the eSports franchise, Team Liquid. Soon, he kept his foot in soccer, and as of today, he is also a part of the MLS side LAFC.

It’s super cool to live life like an owner. Nonetheless, everyone is aware of his recent remarks on social media. Recently, he had to make a correction on his tweet following fan comments.

Magic Johnson makes a key correction

The former NBA superstar tweeted a picture of himself wearing an MLS Cup championship ring. Johnson also wrote a caption, “Check out my @LAFC MLS World Championship ring! The black diamonds really make the ring pop! I’ve never seen a Championship ring like this…Wow”

It wasn’t anything about the picture, as it was the caption that caught the eye of the netizens. Johnson wrote “MLS World Championship ring” and hailed his side as the world champions. The tweet had brought him nothing but wrath from soccer fans who weren’t impressed with his soccer knowledge.

However, Johnson recently made a U-turn as he corrected his mistake. He recently quoted his tweet, saying, “MLS Championship ring*” It seems he finally realized his mistake after seeing fans jabbing him.

Nevertheless, fans should have spared Johnson, as he is still getting acquainted with soccer terminologies. But we reckon it was a poor man’s blunder that led to him facing such reproval from his fans.

Owner of a billion-dollar club

Just before this blunder, Johnson previously shared exciting news regarding Los Angeles FC, which became a billion-dollar club. He shared the news ecstatically on his Twitter account: “Great news for my partners and I at @LAFC; our team is the first MLS team valued at $1B! We are keeping the momentum going after our first MLS Championship!”

Indeed, it is a historic achievement for both MLS and LAFC, as the popularity of both parties is growing significantly. They have been making considerable strides over the past few years, and they will be looking to do so in the coming years.
