Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has been looking strong in recent times thanks to the heroics of Kylian Mbappe. With eight goals in just six matches, the 24-year-old has been in sensational form. However, on Monday, Mbappe had to be substituted during a match against Marseille following an injury scare. But still, the news for PSG’s 21-year-old star Nuno Mendes is far worse, as he is set to miss four months of action.

With PSG going all in to win UCL like every past year, there’s no doubt that any injury will have concerning impacts on the team. However, here’s the update on the injuries of Kylian Mbappe and Nuno Mendes.

The injury woes for PSG began during the match against Marseille when Mbappe had to be taken off just half an hour into the game. The fans held their breath as the star player limped off the field. However, PSG quickly reassured the supporters that Mbappe’s injury was not severe. The club stated that he had suffered a small ankle sprain and also trained indoors. Further updates on his condition are expected to be provided on Friday.

While the news about Mbappe offers some relief to PSG, the update on Mendes is devastating. The 21-year-old Portuguese left-back has been out of action since July due to a hamstring injury. Initially, it was believed that Mendes would only be sidelined for a few weeks. However, recent reports indicate that he will undergo surgery on his hamstring injury in Finland.

With the surgery, Mendes finds himself bedridden for four long months. This means that Mendes will miss a significant portion of PSG’s season. This includes all of their UEFA Champions League group-stage matches. The absence of the youngster poses a considerable challenge for PSG, as he has been an essential part of their defensive line.

With Mendes out, PSG will have to rely on their summer signing Lucas Hernandez. As for Mbappe, his injury is not expected to keep him out of the club for long. But what is expected to do that is his potential move to Real Madrid, which even after receiving a ‘100% No’ seems more and more possible.

There was much speculation during the past summer transfer window about Kylian Mbappe potentially leaving PSG for Real Madrid. However, ultimately, the move did not come to fruition. Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti made it clear that he had no intention of signing any new players.

Nevertheless, Mbappe’s contract with PSG is set to expire next summer. This means he will be free to make a move and could very much end up joining the Los Blancos. Additionally, La Liga president Javier Tebas recently commented on this possibility. In a recent interview, Tebas stated, “Kylian Mbappé will be in La Liga next year. The probability is 70% – 80%”. It will certainly be intriguing to see how this situation develops.
