In 2020, Cristiano Ronaldo’s personal life made the headlines for an entirely different reason. It is because a robbery happened in his home in Funchal, Portugal. The robber entered through the garage after a maintenance worker had opened the door for his work purposes. However, he could only steal Ronaldo’s signed Juventus jersey and other items of low value, although he could have stolen anything. More so because this thief has already stolen from top soccer stars including Johan Cruyff and Karim Benzema. Now, the robber himself has decided to speak about his robbing procedure.

In his interview with journalist Carlos Quílez, the unnamed robber said, “Once I locate the target, I follow and pursue it. I can walk for months on end until I get what I want. I can continue for months until I know that there is no one inside.” He also has made some astonishing claims on how he got the information to conduct the robbery. The robber went on, “No I can locate no target in Spain if someone doesn’t tell me. They are the people who look for us, hire us, and give us details. They could be family members, cleaners, or an enemy. Normally, they charge me around 30 percent of the value [of what is stolen].”

This is not the first time his properties in Funchal have made the news. Cristiano Ronaldo and his brother made the decision to buy land in 2014. They made the plan to build it into a 9-storey project with 213 houses sold. However, it made the news for the wrong reasons. It is because the property was being made near the largest open beach in the area. Hence, the environmentalists made the point that the project would stop the access of the common people.
