“I Hope There’s More Than a Minute of Silence” – Shakira Posts a Powerful Message to Shed Light on an Important Story at the FIFA World Cup 2022

FIFA World Cup just concluded, many historical records were broken, and it made new milestones. Many celebrities were caught by the hype of the biggest match of the year. Even high-profile VIPs like Elon Musk, countless FIFA legends, and French President Emmanuel Macron were present to witness the match. The tournament started with 32 teams, and the match became the world cup’s closest finals.

Many artists and Hollywood personalities were invested in the tournament. Colombian pop star Shakira was one of them. Just before the match, she took to Twitter to tell the world a story that got lost in the hype of the tournament.

This World Cup would be the last ever of many legends like Neymar, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Lionel Messi. The hype of the finals which was played last night between France and Argentina was chart-bursting. However, the world forgot something very important about being lost in the Qatar tournament’s shine.

Shakira talked about Amir Nasr

The ‘Waka Waka’ singer Shakira took to Twitter to remind the world about the tyranny that is going on in Iran. Everyone is familiar with the current protest going on in Iran because of the mandate of the Hijab for women in the country. Countless are facing charges and are pushed to death raw by the Iranian high command.

While addressing the issue, Shakira reminded people that while soccer players will be playing on the ground, there is an Iranian player facing death by the Iranian regime just for talking about women’s rights and the current state of the country. She wrote, “Today at the final of the World Cup, I only hope the players on the field and the whole world remembers that there’s a man and fellow footballer called Amir Nasr, on death row, only for speaking in favor of Women’s rights.

The bloody protest in Iran

The protest ignited in July 2021 due to the water and the economic crisis. It turned into a countrywide revolt after the oppression of women’s rights by the Iranian government. Although the numbers aren’t official, the expected death toll of the protests is expected to be more than 500.

Around 17000+ protesters are captured and are facing the death penalty. Many celebrities have come forward to raise their voice against the Iranian govt. However, Iran keeps on cranking down on the protesters.
