April 22, 2023, came as one of the best days in Wrexham’s history. The club won its first league title in 45 years. And to top that, the Red Dragons got a promotion to EFL League Two after 15 years. The moment the final whistle blew after the penultimate game against Boreham Wood, Racecourse Ground erupted in wild celebrations. Ben Foster wasn’t the exception.

He recently shared the story about it during the Fozcast podcast. “We went walking around Wrexham, and the very first person I saw – I was starving at this point, I was starving,” he said. Foster saw a fan with a tray of kebabs and chips while stepping out of the stadium. The fan hasn’t eaten much of it, and the kebabs had so much garlic mayo on them. It tempted the starving goalkeeper.

“I looked at it and I looked at him, and he looked at me, and he went ‘Do you want some?’ and I went ‘Yeah please’. And he literally just gave me the whole tray, and that was the last he saw of it, that was the last he saw of it,” Foster said on the podcast. He finished that and put it in the bin. Then Foster saw a fan with chips and he gobbled those chips.

That was not all. “And there was a lad talking to me eating a pizza, and I don’t even know what he was saying because I was just looking at his pizza thinking, ‘That looks unbelievable’. He must have watched my eyes because he went, ‘Do you want some?’ I went ‘oh my God’, so I’ve just grabbed it, put a load of chips in it and I’m eating it like it’s… it was so good, it was so, so good,” Foster added.

Before retiring from soccer last year, Foster spent four seasons with Watford. The club’s superstar Troy Deeney once taunted the Wrexham goalie. He said, “The guy eats sh*t, trains twice a week, turns up on a Saturday and is f**king unbelievable.” And it was evident from the Wrexham celebration story Foster has an extreme appetite.
