Lionel Messi is currently on cloud nine after winning his 8th Ballon d’Or. However, the thing that interests many soccer fans is his press conference with the media after receiving the trophy. It will especially interest Barcelona fans as he has dropped a hint on a possible goodbye to the Blaugrana despite rejecting loan moves from Inter Miami this off-season.

The Inter Miami star is not likely to leave in this off-season as he wants to spend more time with family. So, it will be interesting about how Messi plans a reunion with Barcelona.

Messi made the difficult decision to leave Barcelona after 21 years in the 2021 summer transfer, failing to agree a contract extension due to the club’s financial situation. However, after receiving his Ballon d’Or, the Argentine has suddenly reignited rumors, suggesting that he plans to properly say goodbye to the Barca fans.

The Argentine star, speaking at a press conference, after the Ballon d’Or ceremony said, “I would like to say goodbye to the Barça fans in another way. I felt like the sensations weren’t good when I left. I deserve to say goodbye to the people that I shared good and bad times with.”.  This statement will delight the Barcelona fans. It also comes amid his statement that he will not leave Inter Miami in the off-season this year as he is happy with the club

Inter Miami should plan a friendly against FC Barcelona

After the signing of Lionel Messi, the Inter Miami owners are planning to make the club a global brand. MLS is also hopeful that its viewership can continue to rise in the presence of the Argentine. A possible friendly against Barcelona would provide Inter Miami the perfect chance to promote their club and league. This would also benefit the Barcelona fans as they would get to see Lionel Messi and their other former heroes.

Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba also joined Messi at Miami after their contracts expired with Barca. There are also rumors that Inter Miami is hoping to complete the signing of former Barca striker Luis Suarez. Inter Miami co-owner Jorge Mas has previously said in interviews that they are open to playing Barcelona in a friendly to give Lionel Messi the goodbye he deserves.
