The Colorado Rapids announced on Thursday that Zack Steffen has agreed to join the team on a three-year deal that will see him play till 2027 with an option for an extra year. The club also paid $50,000 in general allocation money to the New England Revolution for Steffen’s discovery rights. The Cityzens is yet to disclose how much the Rapids paid them for the deal. Now it’s time to say goodbye,” the USMNT goalie penned.

Steffen made 21 appearances for Pep Guardiola‘s side across all competitions since his move in 2020. The most memorable being an appearance in the 2021 Carabao Cup Final, where City defeated Tottenham 1-0. He has not played for the club since last summer owing to a knee injury. The less playing time at Etihad has prompted the star to return to MLS. Steffen is surely a worthy addition to the Rapids roster. The goalie boasts a decent experience across different clubs in and outside the United States.

Overall, Steffen has donned the goalkeeper’s hat in 220 matches for club and country. He has not conceded a goal in 51 of those matches. Therefore, the Colorado Rapids can indeed up their ante when the 28-year-old joins the team. He, on the other hand, will probably enjoy more playing time compared to Man City.
