Despite this allegiance to the Riyadh-based outfit, rumors have it that he could end up as the Brazil National team’s coach. The Al Hilal boss had once even shown interest to be Brazil’s gaffer. Carlo Ancelotti extending his Real Madrid contract has put Brazil rumors to bed. Therefore, the Portuguese man’s move to Neymar‘s country looks imminent, considering his ‘great desire‘ to coach the team.

Ex-Brazil and Flamengo star Filipe Luis reignited the discussion around Jorge Jesus and the Brazil team. “If the Brazilian Federation makes an offer to coach Jorge Jesus, it will come tomorrow. The coach has a great desire to coach Brazil,” said Luis. His admission holds some weightage, considering his association with both the Brazil team and Jorge Jesus. During the latter’s successful years as Flamengo’s coach, Luis was his dependable defender. So the chances of Selecao Canarinha coming up with a surprise offer before New Year cannot be ruled out.

Brazil has been in a relentless pursuit of finding a new manager since Tite left the team after the 2022 World Cup. Fernando Diniz has been acting as the interim coach. Meanwhile, Diniz has other key responsibilities being the head coach of the Brazilian club Fluminense. How long can a team of Brazil’s stature thrive with an interim boss? In all likelihood, Jorge Jesus or some other renowned coach will soon make their way to the Canarinha’s headquarters. Given Jesus’ prior interest, he is a fitting candidate to take the legendary team ahead.

Earlier in March, Jorge Jesus had hinted that he would leave the Turkish club Fenerbahce’s manager role after the season ends. With the impending Fenerbahce exit, Jesus spoke to Brazilian journalist Garbiel Reis. “Do I want to coach Brazil? Who doesn’t!? Is there any coach in the world who wouldn’t like to? I don’t know if there is,” the now Al Hilal boss told Reis.

In light of the 69-year-old’s massive success on Brazilian soil with Flamengo, he has always been deemed as Tite’s successor. Now that his Al Hilal contract is set to expire in 2024, Jesus can indeed think about a return to Brazil. His decision is likely to depend on the incoming offer, considering Al Hilal’s generosity towards the veteran coach.
