This year has been all sunshine and rainbows for Real Madrid. Its La Liga campaign is under cruise control as the team continues with its on-pitch excellence. Just hours ago, Carlo Ancelotti’s side clinched an emphatic 2-0 league victory against Getafe. Amidst the post-match jubilation, star name Jude Bellingham likened one of his teammates to none other than David Beckham, following a jaw-dropping assist.

A double brace by Joselu was enough to help Los Blancos extend their point tally to 57 points. However, it’s Lucas Vazquez who has managed to steal the spotlight from the center-forward. Following the match, Vazquez was taken aside for a post-match interview to express his thoughts about the victory. Interestingly, as the Spanish wing-back started expressing his thoughts, he was interrupted by Jude Bellingham, who shouted, Vazquez. David Beckham.” Putting things into context, Vazquez produced an assist for the opening goal, akin to what the flawless DB7 used to do in his playing days.

After hearing Bellingham, the fullback lost his interview composure and laughed while continuing to express his thoughts. Either way, this is quite a hilarious and intriguing gesture from the star Englishman toward Vazquez. Looking at the assist, one would surely reckon that even David Beckham would approve of the shocking comparison with him. Perhaps ‘Bend it like Beckham’ runs inside Real Madrid’s DNA!

Former Los Blancos boss Fabio Capello vocally snubbed Manchester City star Erling Haaland and instead backed Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe to carry forward the legacy of the Messi vs. Ronaldo era. In an interview, the Italian legend revealed, “For me, the two footballers who are going to fight like Messi and Cristiano did are Mbappé and Bellingham.”

Additionally, Capello justified his viewpoint by claiming that Mbappe and Bellingham are both more technically proficient than Haaland. Although he acknowledged the remarkable goal-scoring abilities of the Norwegian star, he stressed that Mbappe and Bellingham are the whole package, displaying not just goal-scoring ability but also excellent dribbling skills and technical attributes.

One take at a time

I first kicked a soccer ball when I was 12. My early exposure to playing the sport earned me many accolades at the zonal and district levels. I still remember my first goal, where I scored a 90+5 minute header like Sergio Ramos did in the 2014 Champions League final against Atletico Madrid.
