Lionel Messi once again got his name in the history books after collecting his seventh FIFA The Best award. The Argentine clinched the award from the French duo, Kylian Mbappe, and Karim Benzema. The trio was excellent this year and won all the silverware, but it was Messi who took the award home.

His former club’s female teammate Alexia Putellas won the Best award in the women’s category. Messi’s fellow countrymen, Emiliano Martínez and Lionel Scaloni won the awards for best goalkeeper and coach, respectively.
