While fans have been gushing to watch Messi in action, media outlets have been eager to get word from the player following his games. However, with Leo not used to media interactions this often, the Argentine has skipped out on multiple press interactions, which violates MLS laws.

Based on recent reports, it seems like MLS has decided to act upon the situation. The League recently made a statement citing that Messi had not broken any laws, and they are trying to find ways to get Messi available for media scrums.

Due to various circumstances and size limitations, multiple MLS venues are not able to house hundreds of journalists. A recent report showed that over four hundred journalists had applied for the media scrum following Messi’s last game, which is far over MLS’ expectations.

While the league requires their players to be available for an interview following a fifteen-minute cool-down period, Lionel Messi has not made a lot of media appearances this season. While it was reported that Lionel Messi had violated this law, MLS has come out and issued a statement defending the Inter Miami superstar.

MLS defends Lionel Messi for lack of interviews

With multiple media outlets reporting Lionel Messi had violated MLS’s media rules, the league has now come out to defend the superstar. The league released a statement regarding La Pulga’s media availability, mentioning he had not broken any laws.

“There was a misunderstanding regarding Lionel Messi’s media access. He has not violated any guidelines for his media availability in Major League Soccer.”

According to sources, MLS is currently reviewing its media policies. With Messi firing on all cylinders, it looks like the league is trying to make sure the Argentine does not have any issues during his stay in the United States.
