The future of Lionel Messi hangs in the balance after he refused to sign a contract extension with PSG. Therefore, rumors are circling about how Messi will be on the move to his boyhood soccer club Barcelona or even the MLS. Hence, signs show that he probably would move to MLS. Therefore, according to Goal, the MLS commissioner Don Garber, prepares plans to bring the Argentinian to the league. But there’s a catch. He aims to lure him by offering him a lucrative contract similar to how they attracted Inter Miami owner David Beckham

It would be an offer in which Messi could own an MLS side after his playing career. With audacious plans to bring Messi to the league, it would help the MLS expand to the global audience. So what was Beckham’s offer?

The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner’s contract expires at the end of the 2022/23 season. Despite transfer speculations surfacing on a reunion with Barca, things look sketchy, nonetheless. Apart from offering a lucrative contract, the MLS chief proposed a deal for him to buy an MLS side for just $25 million. Even though buying Inter Miami ultimately increased from the quoted price, the average MLS team is worth $582 million, showcasing the growth of the competition. Therefore, the league has expanded, and many players are arriving for the betterment of the league. Currently, Inter Miami has a valuation of $585 million, while Los Angeles FC’s valuation stands at $900 million.
