The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner’s contract expires at the end of the 2022/23 season. Despite transfer speculations surfacing on a reunion with Barca, things look sketchy, nonetheless. Hence, a Beckham-like deal is on the cards. When the former English soccer player arrived in the USA, they slashed his wages by 70%. To lure him into MLS took some convincing to do.
Apart from offering a lucrative contract, the MLS chief proposed a deal for him to buy an MLS side for just $25 million. Even though buying Inter Miami ultimately increased from the quoted price, the average MLS team is worth $582 million, showcasing the growth of the competition. Therefore, the league has expanded, and many players are arriving for the betterment of the league. Currently, Inter Miami has a valuation of $585 million, while Los Angeles FC’s valuation stands at $900 million.
