MLS star, Riqui Puig, who played a role in Shakira and Gerard Pique’s messy split, took a sly dig at 3X Grammy winner Shakira, on Wednesday. Pique recently took to Instagram to share a picture with his new girlfriend Clara Chia Marti for the first time.

Ever since the controversial split between Shakira and Pique back in June 2022, when Pique was caught cheating on Shakira with 23-year-old Clara, Pique has kept the relationship hush. But this wasn’t the case until this Wednesday, when Pique took to Instagram. He made the relationship public on social media by sharing a cozy picture with the 23-year-old.

This came just weeks after Shakira released a diss track towards Gerard pique and Clara. The diss titled, “Shakira Bzrp Music Sessions 53” not only smashed records but also brought forth a lot of controversies.

MLS star takes a dig at Shakira

Riqui Puig, the new LA Galaxy starlet and ex-teammate and friend of Gerard Pique, took a dig at the Colombian singer in the comments section of Pique and Clara’s photo. Puig commented on the photo saying “A letter out of the box” followed by two heart eyes emoji.

The 23-year-old and Pique were teammates at FC Barcelona. Puig was also known to party with the Spanish soccer star. The two were close friends and often hung out together outside of practice and games. Also, it’s not surprising that Puig would take Pique’s side, considering he played a role in the couple’s split.

Riqui Puig’s role in the split

Marca reported that it was Puig who first introduced Pique to Clara Chia Marti, the woman who is now at the center of the Pique-Shakira split. Puig and Pique were often seen together at nightlife hotspots around Barcelona, and Puig’s girlfriend Gemma Iglesias was close friends with Marti.

It was on one of these nights out that Iglesias introduced Marti to Pique, and the two hit it off immediately. This led to Pique spending more and more time with Marti, eventually leading to the split with Shakira.
